10/25/22: Daily Post

Yesterday was Dad’s birthday, so the highlight of the day was meeting my parents at Red Lobster and taking them out for a birthday lunch. We had a nice visit with them. Joey drove us over there and we chatted for a little while.

In the afternoon, we did some light shopping.

In the evening, JoAnna had her meetings. I continued working on projects and Joey took a nap. I was able to knock out two projects for clients. I now have four projects left in the queue, so I’m slowly making some progress for these miscellaneous clients and Upwork clients.

Overall, it was a good day. We had intended to watch a movie, but everyone was tired by the evening, so I called it a night at 11 or so. Joey stayed up and worked on things, having napped all afternoon.

Friday was my 40th birthday! Joey drove out to visit from Atlanta. First, we stopped by and picked up our RV, now that all of its necessary repairs are completed. Then, we met Joey at the house and did a little light grocery shopping before topping the evening off with dinner at Tucanos.

Yesterday, we picked up our friend Marcia and drove up to Mesa Verde. We had been here once before, back in 2013, but it was fun to come up and visit again. I will put together a whole page/post on Mesa Verde, but for now, here are a few photos of the cliff dwellings. These are of the “Spruce House”, which housed around 60-80 people, and had 120 rooms.

Yesterday was my birthday!  I started out the day with a 2.5 mile run, and I have already updated the running page.

Mostly, we sat outside and chatted.  Anastasia, the kitten, sits in a crate between us.  She literally climbs into it out of her own free will when she wants to go outside and sit between us.  We chatted and read most of the day.

I took an afternoon nap, which brought on some strange dreams.

In the evening, we rode down to Dairy Queen, and I got a S’mores Blizzard, some fries and some pretzel sticks.  Then we sat on the tailgate, chatted some more and listened to John Anderson until it started to get chilly.

It was a good end to the day.

Happy Birthday, Mom!  I spent the early part of the day talking with Mom on the phone.

In the later morning and the afternoon, I worked at NMT, fixing a few things around the lab and moving equipment around.  I didn’t finish nearly all of the things I wanted to finish, but I did make a dent in a few projects.

I also spent some time working on the hydrology LabVIEW project, and have an experiment running over the weekend.  I’ll check in on Monday and make sure the program is still running.

In the evening, I commuted home and did some reading along the way.

Happy Birthday to me!

I spent yesterday working a variety of jobs.  I started out by working summer school at Magdalena.  Then, I worked on an Upwork contract, met with the dynamo group and had one Varsity Tutors session.

In the evening, I commuted home and chatted with my parents.  I did some housework when I arrived, and then ran back out and treated myself to some Applebee’s.  I originally went there for the lava cake, but ended up not ordering it.  According to FitBit and the scale, I still overate.

Otherwise, it was an uneventful day.

We celebrated my birthday yesterday.  Technically, my birthday is the 18th, but I will be driving to Boulder, CO, that day, and Joey will be spending a bunch of time in Georgia, flying out today.

We started out the day by lounging around a bit.  I did some blog posting and such, but overall, it was an easy day.  In the afternoon, we did a bit of quick shopping and then went to Tucanos for dinner.  As always, it was delicious.

In the evening, we went to an Albuquerque Isotopes game.  I was originally afraid it would get rained out, but it didn’t.  It even went into extra innings, and I will talk about that more in another post later on.

Yesterday was Joey’s birthday!  I took off work and drove back from Socorro in the morning so that we could spend the day together.

We started out by watching Blade Runner 2049.  I had not seen the original, but this one was pretty good.  It was intense, and there were a lot of neat questions that arose during this movie.

After the movie, we went to Tucano’s for lunch.  Tucano’s is always a treat, and I ate way too much.  Overall, I think Joey had a good birthday!

In the evening, they went to a Landmark seminar in Santa Fe, and I stayed at home.  I am still recovering from a cold, so I alternated between writing in my NaNoWriMo project and sleeping.  I did just over 1700 words yesterday, but I need to catch up, as I’m just under 4000 words behind.

We arrived in Rio Rancho in the early morning hours.  Rather than go to sleep, I started getting things done around the house and unpacking from our trip.

About midday, I went for a two-ish mile run.  It was already quite warm, so that was about as far as I could go.

My air conditioner froze up, so I spent some time defrosting it.  We also started running the second one.  It was nearly 100 F outside, and 92 F inside.

In the afternoon, I did some grocery shopping.  Then, we went to Tucanos to celebrate my birthday as a family.

After that, I called it a night and went to bed.

Yesterday was Joey’s birthday.  I took the day off and we shopped around at some thrift stores.  I picked up a new winter coat, and he picked up a bunch of old electronics.  I also picked up a replacement CD player, as mine has given up the ghost.  One thrift store had the identical one, so I picked it up.

After that, we had dinner at Tucano’s, as is our birthday tradition.  We ate until we were stuffed.  I’m pretty sure I gained like 20 lbs.

In the evening, I submitted my weather column to Paydirt.  There is only one more issue left this semester, and so far, every issue has featured a weather column.

Yesterday, I commuted to New Mexico Tech. I decided to get a few things done around the department, rather than go to Magdalena, so I stayed in Socorro.  I prepared and delivered a Materials Science lecture for the freshman Chemical Engineering students, and then I also delivered my own instrumentation lecture, the final one of the semester.

After that, we celebrated my brother’s birthday and watched the election results.

I’ve slept-in late today, so I am behind and need to get working on other projects.
