The town of Socorro had a massive power outage last night. The power itself only flickered a few times, but my entire academic building is running on generator power instead of commercial power. There was no heat, and the generator caused power fluctuations that made it difficult and unwise to use a computer. I worked from home for most of the day.
The power outage shut down my computer at home. It was built in 2001, running Windows 2000, and had not been shut down since August 30, 2009, or 125 days.

Mark McGuire confessed to using steroids throughout his career. I guess I’ll file that under ‘News that wasn’t news’. The man was a baseball hero when I was a kid, except he’s bigger and badder?
