6/14/17: Daily Post

Yesterday was a travel day for me, though I did get to do some visiting as well.  I left my parents’ house and headed south towards Virginia Beach.  I will eventually go back to Pittsburgh, but I wanted to catch up to a few friends on the eastern shore of Virginia, as it has been almost ten years since I last saw them.

I got stuck in I-64 traffic, but I eventually made it through the mess.  I operated my amateur radio equipment in several new counties southeast of Richmond, and attempted to livestream my crossing of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel system, though the phone overheated, and I think I lost the video.

I ended up meeting my friends for dinner, with some of their coworkers, at Riverside Grill, just inside the Maryland border.  We had a great time!

In the evening, I drove over to Ocean City, MD, and spent the night in the Sahara, which is a hotel on the boardwalk.  I was able to get the place for $99, which is pretty sweet.  I stayed up kinda late walking the boardwalk.

Yesterday, I dropped JoAnna and Joey off at the conference and then did a little driving.  I drove nearly to Erie, PA, then turned around and drove to Steubenville, OH.  I did most of my driving so that I could operate my amateur radio equipment from new counties.  I operated from 3 counties in PA, 2 in WV, and 2 in OH.

In the evening, I picked up JoAnna and Joey, and then we met our old friend, Atta, at a Whole Foods.  We hadn’t seen Atta in years, though she was our roommate for a few days back in 2006, and a good friend for many years after.  It was good to catch up to her!

Overall, it was a good day.

8/7/16: Daily Post

Yesterday was a busy day, even though I skipped going for a run.

I fell asleep in my chair early Sunday morning, and then moved to the bed around 3.  When I got up around 7, I started out by working on the closet.  The shelf and closet rod had failed disastrously two weeks ago, and it needed to be dealt with.  The shelf was a total loss (it was warped badly), but the rod was salvageable.  I also built a particle board shelf kit from Walmart to give space for some of the clothes to be folded and stored instead of hung from the closet rod.

After that, I worked in the garden for about an hour.  I weeded both beds.

In the afternoon, I took a truck load of old clothes, appliances, et cetera to the Good Will.  It was nice to clear up that space.

Then, I went to a Landmark group meeting, at Annapurna’s.  This meeting was productive and I think everyone got something from their attendance.

After the group meeting, I walked to Frontier Restaurant, where I met a former student and her husband for dinner.  I had not seen them in around a year, and they were just about to leave town for graduate school.  It was good to catch up with them.

After dinner, I came home, did some cooking, cleaning and writing before going to bed.
