Yesterday, we started our day at the Rodeway at the north end of Chicago.  We had breakfast with one of JoAnna’s friend from high school.  We ate at Yolk, and I had great chicken and waffles.

Soon after breakfast, we drove around until we found free parking, and then went to the Nature Museum, where this friend worked.  She is a taxidermist there, and trains other taxidermists, so we toured the museum and watched her teaching someone to skin and stuff a blackbird.

The museum was great.  They had a bird and butterfly exhibit, where you walk into an indoor garden full of exotic butterflies.  There was also this flightless bird called a button quail, and they were neat.

In the afternoon, we drove to Peoria to have dinner with one of my former students.  She invited us to stay at her house, so we did that last night.

Yesterday, I spent some time cleaning up my house from my travels.  I did basic things like clean the cat litter boxes and aquarium, as well as ran a load of laundry.  I have a lot more cleaning to do, but that was a good start.

I also spent a few hours working on some contract work for UpWork.  I was pleased to get a few things knocked out on that project.

In the evening, I had dinner with an old friend of mine (David) and his brother.  We chatted radio, school, engineering and several other nerdy topics.

In the late evening, I took a walk around UNM’s campus, just to add a few steps to my FitBit.

Yesterday, I spent the day driving from Pittsburgh, PA, to Jersey, VA, to visit my parents.  I operated my amateur radio equipment on the VHF side.  I spent the day playing on six meters and two meters, as there was a VHF contest.  I operated from four new grid squares.

I drove down to Arlington to have dinner with my friends, Martha and Eric, whom I haven’t seen for several years.  We had a great dinner and visit!

In the evening, I drove back into Maryland and then over the Potomac, rather than trying to go down 95 with all of the accidents.

I took a walk along the Potomac river at sunset, and I will post photos on my outdoor blog.

I arrived at my parents’ house in the evening and have had a nice visit with them so far.

Yesterday was a largely uneventful day.  My train was delayed over an hour, due to a mechanical problem, so I was late getting to Magdalena.  Once there, however, I stayed the entire day.

Typically, I go to the Boys and Girls Ranches on Thursday, but they cancelled yesterday due to their Easter Holiday.  Therefore, I stayed late at Magdalena.

I returned to NMT, and had a meeting with a few people about a LabVIEW project.  It looks like some neat work, so we’ll see what develops.

In the evening, I had dinner with an old friend and his wife.  Both of them went to VT years ago, and I knew him as an undergraduate.

Yesterday, I worked at Magdalena all day.  I even stayed late for a school budget meeting.  The budget meeting was all bad news, but we will press on.

Because I stayed late at Magdalena, I missed the bus to Belen.  Instead, I drove the Malibu to the train station and took the train to downtown.

In the evening, I had dinner at Frontier with an old friend of mine from high school who happened to be passing through Albuquerque.  I had not seen him in 18 years!   We spent several hours chatting, and we had a good time.

I then bummed a ride from him back to my truck, which was at another train station.

Yesterday, I attended the “New Believers’ Retreat” hosted by the Texico Conference of Seventh Day Adventists.  It was an all-day event, and I had a good time.  It discussed the structure and organization of the church, as well as some of the history.  We also got a brief tour of the Sandia View Academy, or at least the old campus that was recently sold off.  Most of the buildings were condemned.

After this event, I met a few of my friends and hung out for a little bit at Chama River Brewing Company.  My friend was there with his new wife, and so it was good to meet her.

Overall, it was a pleasant day.
