1/12/18: Daily Post

Yesterday, I spent the morning at an AVID training for Albuquerque Public Schools.  It looks like I will be tutoring at Albuquerque High again this semester, same as the last semester.  I am glad, because it worked into my schedule well, and I am liking one of the groups I tutor in particular.

After the training, I picked up a few fill-in groceries to carry us through Sunday.  I also stopped by Firestone to pick up a refund for a broken antenna.  They broke my antenna back in September, and I finally made it there during business hours with a receipt.

I forgot to pick up trash bags.  Joey said he wanted to go for a walk, so we walked down the hill to Walmart, picked up trash bags, and checked out the GoodWill as well.

In the evening, JoAnna and I chatted for several hours before I called an early bedtime for me.

Yesterday, I took the bus and train back up to Albuquerque, then drove over to the Uptown area to complete some AVID training for the Albuquerque Public Schools.  I don’t know my APS schedule yet, but I should in the next few days.

After training, I did a little grocery shopping and posted a few jobs on JobSeeker.

In the evening, we drove to Los Alamos and watched a presentation on fractals.  They had all sorts of neat patterns, hosted in the planetarium.  The science museum and the planetarium were quite neat.   They had a few desert reptiles, insects, and so on in aquariums, as well as all sorts of local information about the wildlife in the southwest.

Yesterday was a busy day.  I started out the day by attending the remaining 8 hours of AVID training.  I hung out with the teachers during our breaks and had a good time overall.  I think there’s a few things I can bring back to the classroom.

After that, I hung out with a few folks at a Wendy’s for a while after the training.

I came home soon after and went to bed.  I had several cats to keep me company.

Other than that, it was an uneventful day.

Thank you for reading my post.  I’ll post a monthly summary soon.

Yesterday, I started the day by teaching three sections of algebra at Magdalena. We covered more with radicals, exponents and imaginary numbers.  I think it went well.

After that, I went back to NMT to work on a few things in the Unit Operations lab. I built a box to cover the relay that was exposed, so that is now safer.  I also started working on a broken pump, and I’m hoping that replacing the gasket will be enough.

In the evening, I rode up to Albuquerque with one of the other tutors, as we had a training session to attend. It was a statewide AVID event, so we ad a good time.

I also walked three miles to pick up my truck, as it was a nice night.
