8/6/17: Daily Post

Yesterday, I started out my morning with a five mile run.  My time was not fantastic, but it did feel good to go running again.  It had been almost a month since my last run, due to my travels and work schedule.

When I returned from running, I weeded the gardens for two hours.  I did so without a shirt, so my back is now nice and red.  I can’t wait to strap on my backpack this morning, as I’m sure that will feel great.  While I was out there, I replaced the batteries in the weather station, as the transmitter was having trouble reaching the receiver inside the house.

In the evening, I did some cooking and cleaning.  I made some delicious tuna steaks, seared and coated with pepper and Old Bay.

I also applied for a handful of jobs on UpWork, so we’ll see how that goes.  Some of them were really neat!  I also updated my amateur radio logbooks and sent a few QSL cards.

Yesterday, I spent the morning working in my garden and my sheds.  I had great summer plans of organizing both sheds and having a productive garden.  Well, summer is here, and I am way behind schedule, though I did plant 24 sweet potato plants and organize one of the sheds a bunch.

I spent the early afternoon sorting brass for reloading and organizing the larger shed.  Then, I came inside and worked on sorting through some paperwork in the house with JoAnna.  We recycled several large bags of old mail that had needed to go!

In the evening, JoAnna and I did some grocery shopping and then had a nice dinner at Whole Foods, watching the moon and the lightning.  Overall, it was a great day!

Yesterday, I spent the majority of the day outside.  I started out by going for an 8.1 mile run around Rio Rancho.  It got pretty hot along the way.  However, 8.1 miles is the farthest I’ve ever run.  It wasn’t quite continuous, as I had to stop and tie my shoe, and I also found random neat things along the way (wheel weights, a wrench extension, etc.) so I’d stop momentarily to pick them up.

Once I returned from my run, I worked in the garden for a while.  I weeded the second large bed, and set up a soaker hose.  I will plant 24 sweet potato plants there in a few minutes.

In the evening, I worked on my amateur radio logbooks.  I still have quite a few QSL cards here that need to be logged, sent and organized.  I logged another 30 or so that did not require me to send a response.  Today, I will go through more of the SASEs.

Yesterday, I started out the day by trying to photograph the International Space Station (ISS) pass at 5:22 am.  I saw it, but was unable to photograph it, unfortunately.  There will be another pass tomorrow, almost directly overhead (86 degrees), so I’ll try again.

After that, I ran for 6.67 miles.  I hadn’t been on a run in quite a few days, so it felt good to get out and run again.

Once I returned from my run, I spent several hours weeding and cleaning up my garden.  I have been disappointed in it so far this year, and have semi-avoided working in it for the last week or two.  However, I cleaned things up yesterday, and will hopefully stay ahead of it in the weeks to come.

In the afternoon, I did some grocery shopping, though I will do more today.  I also photographed my entire folder of car repair receipts and threw them away.  I am trying to clean up my house and make it as paper-free as possible.  I updated my car blog as I did this, so that I have that information in multiple places, electronically.

In the evening, I updated my DX4Win logs, and have now caught up on all of my amateur radio logbooks.  I will start sending out QSL cards this week, and hopefully catch up on that project as well.

I am still battling depression.  I think it has settled in for the long haul.

I helped JoAnna plant her herb garden in the morning, and that was fun.  She has had the herbs for a while and was watering them by hand.  This new arrangement allows us to automate the watering process.  They look nice, too.

I went for a run, but it was shorter and slower than previous days.  With the igh humidity and still conditions, it was a bit miserable.

In the afternoon, I cooked some stir fry for the next few days, and. I also applied for some Upwork contracts and sent out some emails that neeed to be sent.

I have been fasting during the day for the most part.  I have a glass of chocolate milk in the morning, and then nothing during the day until after sundown.  Yesterday, I did eat something light in the late afternoon before dinner.

For dinner, I met JoAnna and Joey at her parents’ house for some chili.

Yesterday, I was still fighting the depression.  I fasted and went for another run, 2.6 miles this time around.

I did finally go through my storm chase photos and added them to my weather blog.  Here is the link to the 2017 Storm Chase:  2017 Storm Chase  Please go check it out, as I have quite a few nice photos up.

Other than that, I did some more housework in an attempt to catch up on two weeks of absence.  I cleaned my fish tank and did some weed-whacking.

I also did some grocery shopping and walked around taking photos of “Help Wanted” signs.

Yesterday, I fought off depression the entire day.  I went for a half hour run (2.58 mi) in the morning.  Awful pace, but better than I expected, as it has been a month since my last run, and I have spent the last two weeks in the car.

After my run, I weeded my garden.  It has not grown much in the past two weeks.  Mostly, the weeds have grown instead.  All of my sweet potatoes died, as did most of my peppers and okra.

In the afternoon, I took a nap.  I didn’t feel like doing much.  I also decided to fast until sundown to see if that added some clarity (it didn’t).

In the evening, JoAnna got home and we chatted for a bit, and that helped pull me from this funk a little bit.  I was able to dump my storm chasing pictures and work on those a bit.
