Yesterday, we had a great Independence Day, and I hope you did as well.
We started out the morning by attending the Rio Rancho Independence Day Parade.
One of the floats was handing out cards, and this is what they said:
The parade was concluded by the Rio Rancho Police on motorcycles driving in figure 8s, and doing a bunch of synchronized riding.
After watching the parade, we walked over to a ceremony that was held for veterans, as well as for the Rio Rancho police officer that was killed a few weeks ago.
In the afternoon, we repaired Joey’s bike tires and went for a three mile bike ride around the neighborhood. I did a few other things that have been on my “To Do” list for a long time, like hang a towel bar.
Once the sun had set, we walked over to a park on Baltic and Pecos that overlooks the city of Albuquerque and watched the fireworks from there. From that spot, we could see professional fireworks from several different cities, as well as dozens of private firework shows. With the temperature in the upper 70s, a light breeze, and low humidity, it was quite a comfortable night to watch the show.
In the late evening, we watched Independence Day. It is hilarious to think that I used to think those special effects were so realistic! It’s not so funny to think that the movie came out 19 years ago…
Thank you for reading my post.
